The pill press includes a rotating matrix table and upper and lower stamps, which are movable coaxial to the matrices in a stamp guide. At least the movement of the lower stamp is controlled to provide a lifting and a lowering, and an attenuation element is provided to prevent an excessive movement of the stamp. The attenuation element (26) consists of at least one magnetic element (29) effective between the stamps (17) and the stamp guide (21) and/or the control curve (25).
