PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of stripes as density unevenness in the case of recording an image by a recording head having a plurality of recording elements arranged in a predetermined direction. SOLUTION: A test pattern is recorded by giving a uniform image signal to a recording head 9. A density unevenness of the pattern is read by a sensor 17. And, unevenness correction data is calculated by a calculator 24 based on a read signal. Then, the correction data is supplied as a selection signal of a correction straight line of an unevenness correction table 22 in synchronization with an input image signal. And, the image signal is converted by the selected straight line to correct the unevenness of each nozzle of the head 9. The image signal in which the density unevenness is corrected is input to a multi-scanning circuit 32, where dots of the image are thinned by 1/3 in a Z part of the head 9 at an initial scanning, printed, dots of the image are thinned by 1/3 after sub-scanning, the dots thinned at the Z part are printed at a Y part of the head, and the dots thinned at X and Y parts are printed at the X part of the head after the subscanning. |
