<p>On the torque-speed profile of a brushless DC motor, envelopes I, II, III, IIII, of different areas of the profile, and representing simulated gear changes, are defined. The control equipment for driving the motor is programmed so that the motor can only operate within the particular area which is selected. When the user senses that they have reached maximum speed in a particular area, a switch allows change to a new set; effectively moving up a gear.</p> |
