PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing a coupler compound having a thioether group at a coupling position in a good yield and in a simple process. SOLUTION: This method for preparing a coupler compound having a thioether group at a coupling position comprises reacting (a) a coupler compound having at least one hydrogen atom at the coupling position with (b) a mixed disulfide compound having a tetrazole group or oxazole group bound to one sulfur atom and an alkyl or aryl group bound to the other sulfur atom in the presence of a base.
