PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a cycloolefin, allowing to efficiently control the production of the cycloolefin, by treating a ruthenium catalyst under specific conditions in a simple means to reversibly change the activity of the catalyst. SOLUTION: This method for producing a cyclohexane comprises partially hydrogenating a monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon with hydrogen in the presence of a ruthenium catalyst, water and a metal sulfate salt. Therein, the ruthenium catalyst is treated with sulfuric acid or an alkaline compound in a catalyst- containing aqueous phase in a pH range of 2.5-7.0 at the ordinary temperature at the atmospheric pressure to reversibly change the activity of the catalyst. When the activity of the catalyst is increased, the sulfuric acid is added, while the alkaline compound is added, when the activity of the catalyst is decreased. |
