PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply protection circuit and a power supply control method which makes it possible to stop supply power instantly on the occurrence of an overcurrent and to restore the power supply immediately after removing the of the overcurrent. SOLUTION: In a power supply protection circuit connected to a power supply 10 capable of supplying power and stopping the supply, an overcurrent determining part 12 determines whether or not the output current of the power supply detected by a voltage drop measuring part 11 remains within a normal range. If the output current of the power supply is larger than a rated current, a power supply control part 13 forces the power supply to stop supply power. Monitoring the state of the power supply, a computer 14 is capable of realizing that the power supply stopped. Also, it controls the power control part 13 so as to make the power supply resume supply power after the cause of the overcurrent was eliminated. The power supply can also be controlled in such a way that, when the power supply starts supplying power, the power supply protection operation is stopped for a given period of time. |
