Process and assembly to make use of waste organic materials which occur in agriculture, forestry, settlements and industry comprises: (a) irrespective of the nature and origin of the biomass, it is first moved using vacuum suction to a collection point where, if necessary, it is sterilised by heating to 70 deg C and any grey water present is removed from the biomass and replaced as necessary by fresh water; and (b) a limited quantity of the sterilised biomass at below a specified temperature is then immediately moved to a fermentation plant where it is processed to liberate energy in the form of heat and/or electricity. The biomass vacuum transport system has one or more supplementary inlets at intervals along the route.
