<p>A storage medium such as a disk with enhanced capabilities for prevention of stored information copying and security protection, and a method of managing the same. Specifically, an intelligent disk (1) comprising a disk unit (3) for storing information and an electronic circuit unit (2) for processing information, wherein the electronic circuit unit (2) has a ROM (24) for ID to store non-rewritable identification information during manufacture and, during issuing of the storage medium, a rewritable password number and/or a digital signature is stored in the disk unit (3) and/or the electronic circuit unit (2). Whereby the storage medium concerned is authenticated by the identification information and the password number and/or digital signature.</p> |
