Thermostatic valve for the coolant circuit of an internal combustion engine

The main valve (5) controlling an external coolant circuit cooperates with an expansive element (4) fitted into the cover and working into a drive connection (6) with a projection (7) carrying a short-circuit valve (8) spring-biased against a stop (9), in line with a warm-up valve (10) across the short-circuit line (11) of an internal coolant circuit. The warm-up valve is freely movable w.r.t. the short-circuit valve in the direction of opening and closure, and bypassed (14) by suitably chosen short-circuit flow cross-sections (15) which become constricted as the main valve is opened wider.
