<p>The method involves reading data from at least one consumption meter and transferring them to an accounting centre. The data are read using a chip card (6) and the data can be transferred by inserting the card into a chip card interface (5). The data can be transferred automatically across a telephone network using a locally stored call number. Each consumption point may have a transmitter which transmits the data to the accounting centre on receiving a request signal.</p> |
