Fibrous materials or foils of high molecular linear polyesters, including cellulose esters, are printed with a non-aqueous paste containing a disperse dyestuff, a volatile organic solvent and/or binder comprising a polyvinyl ester, a polyacrylic ester or a copolymer of vinyl acetate and crotonic acid, then dried and finally heated. Suitable organic solvents are ethanol, oil of turpentine, butyl acetate, ethyl acetate and butyl lactate. The paste may also contain a swelling agent such as the diglycol ether of b -naphthol. If the binder is soluble in water or aqueous alkali, it may be finally washed out. |
