The invention concerns a container-chest for transporting valuable objects, such as works of art, subject to normal conditions of transport including accidents. It comprises mainly a chest (1) consisting of a body (36) and a lid (35) both produced in the form of an inner chamber containing the object to be transported and an outer chamber separated by isolating materials. It further comprises a container (2A, 2B) wherein the chest (1) is blocked. The invention is useful for transporting works of art.
