The equipment uses a silica type sensor (2), typically an NPN transistor connected as a diode. The signals from the sensor (2) are sent to a microprocessor (4) which controlled by a managing unit (6) converts them to quantities representative of the temperature being measured. The management unit (6) controls the times of taking temperatures and is fed from a power supply unit (8). Temperature data is stored in a memory (10) and may be viewed on a direct reading display (12). The data may also be transferred (14) to an external processing unit (16).
