PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decide a quantity of storing waste toner without depending on an inaccurate detecting scheme by measuring a quantity of toner on a light receiving member, and totaling a quantity of residual toner by calculating the residual toner as its function. SOLUTION: A BTAC sensor is used to track a waste toner, and the number of pixel generated every time when an image is developed on a light receiving body belt is counted. Next, the number of pixel being residual waste is decided by device algorithm to express transfer efficiency of a device. A pixel using quantity value is stored in a device memory. This value is loaded down in a CRUM chip 270 contained in a customer replaceable unit(CRU) 200 at device cycle completion time or at a specific time interval. A pixel using quantity counter possessed in the CRU is decreased every time when device data is loaded down in the CRUM chip 270. When the pixel using quantity value reaches zero, a message to show that the CRU 200 reaches the completion of the sevice life is displayed. |
