PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive discharge lamp socket which certainly prevents a worker from getting an electric shock in exchanging standard two- pole discharge lamps. SOLUTION: A discharge lamp socket 1 includes an insulating housing body 10, a high-voltage terminal 14 and a low-voltage terminal 16 which contact with high-voltage and low-voltage electrodes of a discharge lamp 200, respectively. The low-voltage terminal 16 temporarily has a short-circuit spring piece 42 short-circuiting with the high-voltage terminal when the discharge lamp 200 is not installed. When the discharge lamp 200 is installed, the short-circuit spring piece 42 is bent outward by an insulating part 208 of the lamp, and the short-circuit is cut. The socket 1 needs no exclusive detecting mechanism of installation of the lamp, causing a less number of parts. |
