<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the power saving effect of a recording/reproducing device by setting switching time to a sleep mode to multiple stages depending on an inputted control signal or the state of the recording/reproducing device. SOLUTION: A determination circuit 64 is connected to a key input section 10 for inputting user's operation request, a register 69 for storing an operation request mode and a cassette detection circuit 66 for detecting the loading of a tape cassette. The determination circuit 64 sets a timer 62 to a first setting time, e.g. 30 seconds, irrespective of a driving mode for storing in the register 69, when there is an input from the key input section 10. If there are no new inputs for 30 seconds, in response to a signal from the timer 62, a control unit 61 switches a switching circuit 63 from a first oscillation source 67 to a second oscillation source 68 and a system from a normal mode to a sleep mode. When time setting is made in the sleep mode, the normal mode is returned to the sleep mode after 30 seconds.</p> |
