Process and apparatus for regenerating foundry sand

Process for regenerating used foundry sand with a proportion of bentonite-bound sand, whereby the sand grains are repeatedly accelerated and braked in a treatment chamber and scrubbed by combined impact and shear with subsequent grain on grain scouring, thereby being freed of adhering usable and spent binder and additive coatings (scoured off fine particles being separated from the sand). The sand to be treated is divided into two falling streams, the first stream being accelerated and impelled into the second stream. Process equipment is also claimed.
