CHANNEL SETTING SYSTEM IN ASYNCHRONOUS TRANSFER MODE NETWORK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the load of a network by preventing an invalid cell from being transmitted to the ATM network when a call passing through the ATM network does not exist in a private communication network. SOLUTION: Information of the use/non-use of a time slot is shown in the lowest three digits of a bit pattern shown in 'CH notice'. Respective bits are set to be '0' (idle) or '1' (block) and are sent to a CLAD 3-side from a communication node 2-side. Information are sent to the TS use information control part 3-2 of the CLAD 3 from the TS use information control part 2-2 of the node 2. The instructions of cell generation and transmission ON/OFF are given to a cell processor 3-5 on cell control. When a line is not used, the CLAD 3 stops the transmission of the cell, traffic added to the ATM network is reduced and waste is eliminated by informing the use/non-use time slot in the communication node 2 to the CLAD 3.
