The optical transmission apparatus includes a transmission module (2) with a laser diode and a reception module (1) with an avalanche photodiode and a target device (5), mounted on a common base plate with a single connection terminal (6). The connection terminal is provided for supplying current and control pulses. The transmission module provides modulated light pulses with a wavelength of 904 nm or 267 nm, with pulsed operation of the laser diode. Preferably, a light impulse flank modulation, a light impulse phase modulation, a light impulse frequency modulation or derived further modulation methods are provided.
