METHOD OF MANUFACTURING FIBER RIBBON

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing fiber ribbon permitting to substantially reduce a working time by optically connecting by means of fusion splice at a time of replacing a preceding coated optical fiber with a following coated optical fiber and allowing the connected part to pass through a coating cross head point. SOLUTION: While a plurality of preceding coated optical fibers 1 are being fed, they are coated in package with tape material resin by the coating cross head 8. After a predetermined quantity of production has been completed, the production line is once halted; the preceding coated optical fibers 1 are cut off; the coating resin on the end parts is removed; and the following coated optical fibers 2 are fusion-spliced. After a screening test on the connected parts, a supply equipment 4 is re-started, and connected parts proved to be satisfactory at the screening test are drawn out by the supply equipment 4 and led into a pass line.
