Free-standing electrical deep fryer

The fryer consists of a container for the fat or oil, in which a spiral heating element is situated, connected to the electrical supply through a plug and socket and mains lead, and which is removably assembled into an insulated housing having a hole for the electrical connection. A hinged lid completes the enclosure. The insulated body (11) has a hinged, removable lid (12) and contains the fat vessel (21) which has an electrical heating element (31) in its base connected to the supply through a socket (32) which is accessed through an aperture (114) in the lower region of the insulated body. The mains plug (413) and cable (412) is terminated by a connector (41) for the heating element. The connector has terminals (411,411') engaging those (321,321') in the heater socket, a thermostat (416), a pressure switch (418) and an indicator light (419). The food basket (26) has a grip (261) engaging a slot (116) in the side of the insulated body.
