IC engine with turbo charger

The IC engine has an exhaust gas powered turbo charger and is fitted with exhaust gas recycling for emission control. The proportion of recycled exhaust gas is mixed with a proportion of fresh air and the mixture is fed into the inlet manifold via a secondary compressor turbine (17) driven off the same turbo charger. The exhaust gas flow passes over the turbo charger (3) before a tapping point (11) where a control valve (10) recycles a set proportion of the exhaust. The same control valve admits a set flow of fresh air.
