FIELD: energy conversion engineering. SUBSTANCE: energy converter has channel 1 with insulating walls that accommodates conversion stage including emitter electrode 4 with pointed charge-forming part 7 and draw-out and collector electrodes 5 and 6, respectively, electrically insulated from the latter and from each other. Electrodes are placed beyond flow section of channel. Charge-forming part 7 of emitter electrode 4 is mounted flush with wall surface of channel 1. Draw-out electrode 5 is installed opposite charge-forming part 7 of emitter electrode 4; its surface 10 contacting working medium flow is part of wall surface of channel. Collector electrode 61, 62 is installed downstream of emitter and draw-out electrodes along working medium flow and its surface 11, 12 contacting working medium flow is also part of wall surface of channel 1. EFFECT: improved efficiency of energy conversion due to reduced pressure drop across working medium flow in channel. 11 cl, 6 dwge
