Managing letter-box distribution of publicity documents

The distribution of publicity documents (1) may be examined and managed by marking them with bar codes (2A,2B,2C) and appointing a panel of representative receivers each of whom is equipped with electronic equipment. The electronic equipment comprises a bar code reader head (3A), a decoder (3B) and a bar code reader (3) which includes a microprocessor (3C) and modem (3D). Data relating to the receiver such as address are stored in the microprocessor and the bar codes give times and dates of commencing and completing reading the document and also data on interest and quality of letter-box delivery. These data are sent to a central station (4) for analysis via the modem and a public telephone system.
