A process is disclosed for producing an anode made of cermet for high-temperature fuel cells. A sol is generated with the components of the cermet, for example Ni, Zr and Y. A powder which contains the metal oxide and the ceramic is produced from the sol by converting the sol into a gel, then calcinating it. The powder is shaped into an anode in a known manner.
