Active bumper system for private motor car

The crossways bumper beam (1) for absorption of collision impact is supported on the ends (10) of at least one, and preferably two longitudinal beams (3) of the vehicle. The bumper beam is fixed to the vehicle by means of expansion devices fitted around it in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The active bumper system per longitudinal beam incorporates an energy-absorbing component, on which a manipulation system engages. This system is so formed that it positions the energy-absorbing component (4) in the expanded state of the bumper beam between the bumper beam and the end of the respective longitudinal beam of the vehicle.
