In a boiling water nuclear reactor, the pressure vessel is provided with an internal thermal lining. The stainless steel channels 4 are secured to the vessel wall 1 by the bolts 11 and are filled with sand. Backing plates 10 are urged against the channels by the springs 12. Ports in the channels 4 communicate with the vessel interior and gauze filters 9 prevent the movement of sand into the vessel interior. The flange 7 is urged against the wall 1 by the sand pressure. |
