The process comprises: a) supplying the wide web to the cutting roller so that the part seized by the band preferably extends over more than 180 degree of the surface of the roller; b) simultaneous cutting of all the strips from the wide web by means of individual cutters; c) supply of the cut strips individually to an intermediate roller for individual guiding of the strips to a roller for applying the strips to a core for rolling them up on a single shaft; and d) arrangement of the individual rollers applying the strips to the take-up coils with tangency between these. The apparatus has a rocking arm carrying the cutters and cutting and guiding rollers for coiling as narrow webs. <IMAGE>
