PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character inputting device and method in which necessary characters can be quickly and easily selected from plural character kinds by using a control dial inputting device. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a control dial inputting device 11 which generates command signals for forward and backward rotation and pressurization microcontroller 12 which controls characters displayed based on the command signal, OSD controller 13 which generates video information from the character information, and displaying part which displays the generated video information. Then, the selection can be attained by one-dimensional cursor movement by a step for selecting second-dimensionally arrayed and displayed one group of characters, and a step for selecting characters from the selected one group of characters. |
