Production of new or known cyclic amino:sulphonamide derivatives

Production of cyclic sulphonamide hydrazones of formula (IA) and cyclic N-aminosulphonamides of formula (IB) comprises: (a) aminating a cyclic sulphonamide of formula (II) with an oxaziridine of formula (III) in an organic solvent and in the presence of a base; and optionally (b) hydrolysing the resulting (IA) to (IB; R1,R2 = H) and optionally further derivatising. X = saturated or unsaturated 1-6C chain optionally (a) with hetero atom(s) replacing C and optionally substituted by one or more groups Q or (b) with 2 or more atoms forming part of a carbocyclic or heterocyclic, optionally aromatic or polynuclear ring system optionally substituted by one or more groups Q; Q = 1-8C alkyl, 2-8C alkenyl, 2-8C alkynyl, 1-4C alkoxy, acyl, halo, CN or NO2; R1, R2 = H; acyl; or 1-8C alkyl, 2-8C alkenyl or 2-8C alkynyl (all optionally substituted by one or more of 1-8C alkyl, 2-8C alkenyl, 2-8C alkynyl, 1-4C alkoxy, 1-4C alkoxycarbonyl, halo, CN, NO2 and/or optionally substituted phenyl; or R1+R2 = alkylene (optionally substituted by one or more of 1-8C alkyl, 2-8C alkenyl, 2-8C alkynyl, 1-4C alkoxy, acyl, halo, CN, NO2, optionally substituted phenyl and optionally substituted benzyl); R3, R4 = H; acyl; or 1-7C alkyl, 2-7C alkenyl or 2-7C alkynyl (all optionally substituted by one or more of 1-8C alkyl, 2-8C alkenyl, 2-8C alkynyl, 1-4C alkoxy, 1-4C alkoxycarbonyl, halo, CN, NO2, optionally substituted phenyl and optionally substituted benzyl); or R3+ R4 = 2-7C alkylene (optionally substituted by one or more groups Q). Also claimed as new compounds are ( i) (IA) and (ii) (IB) (provided that X not a 4C chain) and their salts, especially acid addition salts.
