Suction jaws for holding thin walled objects, where the jaws feature evacuated slits at two levels on the jaw face and valves allow the slits to be evacuated selectively. Esp. for holding plastic bags open during (automatic, high -speed) filling, using one row of slots to open the bag and the other only to support the increasing weight as the bag is filled. Makes efficient use of vacuum by only pulling on the supporting slots after the bag has been drawn over the openings. Pref. outlying suction slots can be selectively evacuated to support bags of various widths. |
