A waterproof cable entry is formed between a body 2 and a cover 15 by laying wires between elastic seals 21 and applying ultrasound to the cover while compressing the cover so that the cover is welded to the body and also compresses the elastic seals 21. The seals may be formed of elastic sheet which is cut by ribs 12, 17 of the body and cover during welding so as to seal the wires in the channels formed between the ribs. Alternatively, figures 4 and 5 not shown, a block of elastic material may be located round the wires. The ribs may be shortened (figure 3 not shown) so that the elastic seaming material away from the end of the body is not cut. This prevents the elastic material from moving towards the end of the body during ultrasonic welding. |
