In vehicles, the seat back can move forwardly during an accident due to the forces applied to the upper part of the seat back by the safety-belt. To overcome this problem, the back 8 of the seat is reinforced with a framework 12 on which a retractor 13 for the safety-belt or a belt guide loop is mounted. A cable or wire 14 is attached between an upper part of the framework and the seat or seat carriage. This cable is inextensible and prevents the back of the vehicle seat moving forwardly due to deceleration in an accident. Alternatively, the cable may be attached adjustably to the seat carriage so that the seat back can be pivotably adjusted. |
