FILTER FOR PURIFYING EXHAUST GAS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter for purifying exhaust gas excellent in collection efficiency of soot and in combustion characteristics. SOLUTION: An upstream room 11 and a downstream room 12 are partitioned with a partitioning wall 15 consisting of a porous body having a great number of pores. Exhaust gas 5 is introduced into the upstream room 11, passed through the partition wall 15 and flown into the downstream room 12 to be purified it. The total pore volume of through-pores in the range of 5-20μm pore diameters in the porous body is in the range of 30-80% for the total pore volume of the total through-pores, and the total pore volume of the through-pores in the range of 20-200μm pore diameters is in the range of 20-70% for the total pore volume of the total through-pores.
