FIELD: heat pumps or refrigerating machines for heating and/or cooling gases, liquids, and other bodies; electric generators. SUBSTANCE: thermoelectric unit has thermoelectric batteries whose hot and cold junctions in first and second versions and hot or cold junctions in third version mount heat pipes made in the form of flat multichannel aluminum pipes partially filled with coolant. Each heat pipe mounted on clod and hot junctions in first version and on one of junctions in second and third versions has bend forming two sections whose longitudinal axes are parallel to surfaces of junctions and relatively offset; one of sections abuts against surfaces of respective junctions and other one is positioned so that its longitudinal axis is displaced from that of preceding section through appropriate distance in direction from surfaces of these junctions to center of thermoelectric battery. Opposite junctions of thermoelectric batteries in third version mount liquid-flow heat exchangers. Thermoelectric batteries in first and second versions carrying heat pipes on their junctions and those of third version with heat pipes and heat exchangers on their junctions abut against each other on like-junction sides. Heat pipes without bends in second version and heat exchangers in third version are placed on inwardly directed junctions in each pair of batteries so that one mentioned pipe and one mentioned heat exchanger are common for two batteries in each pair arranged in tandem.
