The roller consists of one or more tapes (2) and one or more rollers (3,4,17). Each tape is capable of suction and producing emissions. A coating (15) is taken from one or more containers (6) directly or indirectly over wetting rollers (4) and a wick (5) by capillary force. The force applied to the covering depends on gravity. It is applied to the surface of the workpiece (1) to be coated. The container may consist of a casing (7), the wick, the wetting roller and a replaceable lid.
