PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video decoder by which a video decoding is restored to be a normal state even on the occurrence of missing of data or insertion of unrequited data in/to a transmission frame resulting from a failure of a transmission line while reception of a video segment is finished and video decoding is executed. SOLUTION: A transmission line terminator 3 of the decoder is with an OR circuit 12 that ORs an out of frame synchronism signal detected from a digital video signal by a frame synchronization circuit 6 and transmission line alarm detected from the digital video signal by a transmission line alarm detection circuit 7 in order to detect failure recovery based on the result of detecting a failure in a transmission line 2. A digital video decoder 4 is provided with a switch 11 that selects video segment reception circuit 10 while regarding the failure to be recovered when an OR signal indicates recovery from out of frame synchronism or transmission line alarm in order to receive the video segment again for video decoding by using the failure recovery as a trigger. |
