<p>A compact disk controller for a compact disk drive to control communication of digital information between the compact disk drive and the host computer via an IDE data bus. The compact disk drive comprises a digital signal processor, a microcontroller, a random access memory, a system controller and an ISA data bus. The compact disk controller comprises a host interface for connecting the host computer via the IDE bus with the compact disk controller and for receiving addresses and commands from the host computer and transmitting digital data to the host computer, a digital signal processor interface for interfacing the host interface with the compact disk drive electronics digital interface, an error correction code circuit for performing error correction on digital information, a cyclic redundancy checker for detecting errors in the digital information after error correction, a memory controller and memory.</p> |
