PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the easy production of the same mold for molding by forming the mold for molding of a glass having a higher softening point temperature than that of a glass material in the mold for molding capable of hot molding the glass material composed of a resin or a glass and molding an optical element. SOLUTION: This mold 2 for molding is the one having a lens effective part and a flange part on the outer periphery thereof. A molding machine shown in the figure is used in order to mold the glass lens. The mold 2 for molding has a molding surface 2a for molding the glass lens at the tip thereof. A body section 4 is used for controlling the outside diameter of the glass lens. A space 5 is brought into contact with the forming mold 2 when press molding the glass lens to thereby control the thickness of the glass lens. When the forming mold 2 is formed of a low-expansion crystallized glass, the glass has a higher softening point temperature than that of the glass material 1, etc., and further the thermal expansion coefficient of the glass is <=3×10<-8> lower than about 4 x 10" of a cemented carbide. Thereby, a change in shape with heat at the time of molding can be reduced.
