The invention relates to a retaining clamp (10, 110) for a roof tile, comprising two interconnected legs (12,14,112,114). A first leg (12,112) can be placed against the top side of the roof tile and a second leg (14,114) can be placed against the bottom side of the roof tile. In order to provide a retaining clamp of the above-mentioned variety which is easy and quick to assemble and which can be used universally to fasten various types of roof tiles so that they can be secured to the roof base in a storm-resistant manner, the clear width (32) between the two legs (12, 14,112,114) corresponds approximately to the maximum roof tile thickness and the clear width (32,132) can be modified by an adjustment device (34,134), which is connected to the legs (12,14,112,114), for non-positive fastening of the retaining clamp (10, 110) to the roof tile.
