摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen the light leakage by disinclination and to increase the numeral aperture by forming the opening edges of the apertures of light shielding films so as to satisfy a specific equation and arranging these opening edges in specific positions. SOLUTION: The light shielding film 42 provided with the aperture 42a having the inner side at the end of pixel electrode 34 as the opening edge is formed on the first or second substrate 24. The opening edge of the aperture 42a of the light shielding film 42 is arranged in the position where the distance from the scanning line 31 or signal line 32 on the side, where the light leakage by the disclination is largest, is larger than the distance from the scanning line 31 or signal line 32 on the side, where the light leakage is min. on condition that the equation: L>=a0 d+a1 t+a2 t<2> /d is satisfied, where 0.50<=a0 <=0.90, 0.70<=a1 <=0.85, 0.015<=a2 <=0.040. In the equation, L is the distances between the opening edges and the scanning lines 31 or the signal lines 32; d is the spacing between first and second oriented films; t is the distances between the pixel electrodes 34 and the scanning lines 31 or the signal lines 32.
