The device for controlling the dimensions of an object comprises a support (2), and two measuring arms (8,9) hinged at the support around two parallel axes (10,11) so as to be movable in a common plane and each having a free end (8.2,9.2) fitted with a touch sensor (24,25). A displacement sensor is mounted between the two measuring arms. The hinge for each measuring arm at the support is made from a torsion bar (12) fixed so as to rotate from the arm and from the support. The torsion bar posses at least a rigid support part (13) fixed so as to rotate from the arm and at least a rigid anchoring part (16,17) fixed to rotate on the support (2). Between the different anchoring and support parts (13,16,17) are deformable torsion parts (22,23).
