PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyamide resin compsn. excellent in tensile strength, bending strength, and bending modulus by compounding a polyamide resin with an aluminum borate whisker surface-treated with a silicic ester and an aminosilane coupling agent and washed with water. SOLUTION: A slurry prepd. by dispersing 100 pts.wt. aluminum borate whisker having an average fiber diameter of 0.05-5μm and an average fiber length of 2-100μm in water is mixed with 0.5-10 pts.wt. silicic ester (e.g. ethyl silicate) and 0.2-6.0 pts.wt. aminosilane coupling agent (e.g.γ-aminopropyltriethoxysilane) for about 1hr under stirring, then filtered, washed with water, and dried to give a surface-modified aluminum borate whisker. Then 100 pts.wt. arom. polyamide resin is compounded with 100-250 pts.wt. surface-modified aluminum borate whisker and, if necessary, another thermoplastic resin, an antioxidant, a heat stabilizer, etc., and the resultant compsn. is melt kneaded and extruded with a twin-screw extruder, etc., to give the objective arom. polyamide resin compsn.
