CATALYTIC BODY AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalytic body having small heat capacity and an excel lent cleaning capability and capable of being used at a temperature in the range of 300-1,000 deg.C. SOLUTION: The catalytic body is provided on a metallic base 5 having a heated immobilized film 5a and includes an undercoat layer 6 of sintered oxides including at least cerium and aluminum, and a precious metal catalytic layer 7 provided on the undercoat layer 6. The catalytic body is obtained by coating the metallic base having a heated immobilized layer 5a with mixed water dispersion slurry of sintered oxides including at least cerium and aluminum with colloidal alumina or colloidal silica, after drying and burning, coating and impregnating the resultant product with a precious metal nitrate aqueous solution, and then drying and burning it.
