The invention concerns a method and device for machining a workpiece (1), in particular a turbine component, by means of a tool (4) which is operated by a numerical control machine tool. The object of the invention is to provide the workpiece (1) with a plurality of surfaces (B) which are similar and/or identical, even in terms of contour. To that end, the following steps are carried out: a) aligning the tool (4) on the workpiece (1); b) determining and/or inputting a position of the tool (4) as first co-ordinates defining the tool (4) - workpiece (1) relation; c) starting the tool (4) at a point (O) which is at least in the vicinity of one of the surfaces (B) to be machined, in the co-ordinate system of the first co-ordinates; d) detecting and storing the tool position at point (O) in second co-ordinates which define the tool (4) - machine tool relation; and e) machining the surface (B) to be provided in the workpiece (1) according to predetermined parameters and taking account of the co-ordinate system of the second co-ordinates. The invention is preferably used in the production of all types of machined surfaces for a turbomachine and/or its associated parts.
