The pump has a tapering housing (26) inside which a conical element (4) with a central bore is driven reciprocally by a rear mounted piezo element (22). The conical element has radial bores (7) which connect the outside of the element with the central bore. A non return valve at the rear of the conical element connects to the supply duct (15). The compact pump delivers high pressure fuel using the piezo drive element. A cap washer spring seal (8) tensions the pump element and a sliding seal (12) protects the rear of the pump. The pump is driven by electric impulses independent of the engine speed.
