PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit a user to easily recognize whether an instruction which is to be given to a controller can be accepted or not. SOLUTION: At the time of controlling a recording medium processor for giving the command corresponding to a prescribed instruction by the controller provided with an input means for receiving the prescribed instruction and recording or reproducing a recording medium, prescribed information on the recording medium is previously transmitted to the controller so that the controller can judge whether the instruction can be accepted or not (steps 32 to 34). When the controller judges that the instruction cannot be accepted based on reception information, it outputs the instruction that indicates that an input is not allowed to receive.
