PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator capable of dealing with fast gas expansion and having a large degree of freedom for the shape of a container structure. SOLUTION: This gas generator used for an air bag for protecting an occupant when automobile clashing occurs includes a pressure resistant container and two pressure partition walls 22-1 and 22-2 for partitioning the inside of the pressure resistant container into three tightly shut rooms and opening these rooms, one room A has a volume of 5cm<3> or lower, combustible gas and high- pressure gas containing oxygen are supplied by pressure of 10 to 150atm and an ignition source is provided therein, a plurality of gas discharging ports 23 for discharging inert gas when the pressure partition wall is opened are provided in the pressure resistant container of the other room B, and the remaining room has a volume of 50cm<3> and inert gas containing nitrogen or the like, or mixed gas between combustible gas and oxygen or high-pressure mixed gas between inert gas and combustible gas is injected therein by pressure of 50 to 300atm. |
