PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the structure, while reducing the size by introducing a signal light from an optical fiber and a pumping light from a pumping source to a spiral active part, in order to amplify the signal light and then reintroducing the amplified signal light to the optical fiber as a communication line. SOLUTION: A signal light is introduced from an optical fiber 1 as a communication line to a spiral active part 3 through an introducing part 2. At the same time, a pumping light is introduced from a pumping source 4 to the spiral active part 3 through the introducing part 2, in order to pump an active medium into the spiral active part 3. The spiral active part 3 amplifies the signal light with the pumped light, and the amplified signal light is reconnected with the optical fiber 1 via a communication line 5. According to the arrangement, loss of the signal light can be reduced, and the structure can be simplified while reducing the size. |
