PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a multiple oxide of lithium causing no crystal defects in the oxide and having stability as the active material of a positive electrode by using a specified Ni-Co salt obtd. by solid solution and/or coprecipitation of Ni and Co. SOLUTION: This multiple oxide of lithium is represented by the formula Lix Ni1-y Coy O2 (where 0<x<1.1 and 0<=y<=1) and has roundish platy or columnar grains as primary grains and practically spherical grains obtd. by laminating, aggregating and bonding the primary grains as secondary grains. The grain diameter of the primary grains is preferably 0.2-2μm. |
